About this Museum

Dating back to 1825, the Iziko South African Museum is the country's principal natural history museum. From highlights like the Whale Well, to the lesser known Wonders of Nature exhibition, there is plenty to see and discover with every visit. The museum's Courtyard Project, once complete, will see a new wing of labs and offices integrated with the publicly accessible museum galleries.

*Please note: This site is open to the public from 6pm
